Excellent post – thanks for sharing. I came across your blog while doing some research on Palestine. As a white American living in Cape Town, I can relate to your experiences in both countries. This quote really stood out for me, given the latest New York Times article on Cape Town being racist and the barrage of denial in response: “As a person with racial privilege, the most basic responsibility is not to collude in the pretense that this racial privilege doesn’t exist.” Thank you.
